Do most hostels have irons for use? I intend to do my own laundry, but I like to always look sharp, and I can't imagine wearing a wrinkled shirt.
And ideas to this?

I find that they are more common in B&B's than hostels. You can always email them and ask them if it's provided. Some do have some but it may be the case of having only 1 iron for the entire place.

dddx, I've never seen an Iron in the Hostels I've stayed at, so not sure whether these are provided or not? Some of the Hostels and B&B's I've visited didn't even have laundry facilities, as there were commercial laundries within a short walking distance. Some of the commercial laundries were self-serve and others were "service wash" locations, where they provide the service of washing, drying and ironing if necessary. I've never seen an Iron in the self-serve laundries; most of these just have coin operated washers and dryers. I always use "travel friendly" Tilley clothing for trips, so never have to worry about wrinkles in clothing. Some of the products can be washed in a Hotel room sink and be dry and wrinkle free in the morning. If you have room in your luggage, you could always pack along a Travel Iron or Steamer such as www.magellans.com/store/Health___Personal_Care___Clothing_CareEC768?Args=. Good luck and Happy travels!

I had a similar question but regarding hair dryers. Do hostels provide these, maybe even at the desk?

Again, I would not count on a hair dryer being available.
One piece of advice I have read is that it is worthwhile to buy a hair dryer in Europe, because even with converters, it often seems American or Canadian hair dryers do not work that well in Europe.

Thanks for the replies! I've thought about these "travel friendly" clothes, but don't want to push my limited budget any more. Am not a frequent traveler anyways, I only travel once in a few years!
I've looked around and found "wrinkle-free sprays". Has anyone here had any experience using these?
