Just a quick update, I just got off the phone with my contact in Prague and just learned that I will have an apartment upon my arrival. 
I had been trying to figure this out for a while, but it looks like things are coming together. The apartment is near the Prague castle "and it's a nice one, too" according to my contact. All for the great price of $18/day. Sounds good to me! ;D
It's all mine for two weeks, at which point I hope to have a permanent place. Eight days and counting...
