Sorry for the long delay, but things have been hectic for me the last few weeks. I will try to pick up where I left off...
After getting back from Spain, I started my month long course to become a certified English teacher. My expectations going into this course were pretty low. Everything I had read seemed to say there was nothing to the course, that people only paid for it to get the certificate. I also thought I would be the oldest one there and that everyone would just be taking the course in between marathon drinking sessions. Luckily, I was wrong on both counts.
From day one, it was clear that the teachers of the course were very passionate about what they taught and took their jobs seriously. Our two primary trainers, two blokes from England, kept the course entertaining and fun and were both cool to hang out with after class, too. What more could you ask for?
The other students in my class were all totally cool, too. And I wasn't the oldest! Most of them were Americans, including an older woman who hung out in San Francisco with the Grateful Dead during the Summer of Love and who stayed out with us until 4am the first weekend. But we also had one native Czech guy studying to be an English teacher. On the weekends he crosses the border into Germany to play the medieval bagpipes in a band throughout the squares of the Mark. I will be visiting him in his home town of Chomutov next week. We also had an Australian girl who had the best accent I have ever heard and was a pleasure to hang out with.
Having been in Prague for two months more than anyone else, all of a sudden I was old school and I did my best to ensure the other students had as good a first month in Prague as I did. This is largely why I have been so silent here on this board. The last month, all my time has been spent either in school or hanging out with a great crew. I have a bunch of stories, but they will have to wait till the next post.
Still a happy camper,
Ray
