Stirling con't
The day I arrived I took the 'quick' ferry ride just for a looksee to Knoybart, a small village across the firth from Malliag. About 100 folks tops live there, there is absolutely no way to get there save by foot, a two day hike from Malliag or by ferry. And ferry used loosley as it is not a car ferry, just a smallish boat that can probably hold about 30 folks. It is not on an island BTW, but at the tip of a pennensula just north of Malliag. The day I rode over, once we got to Knoybart and everyone got off they started loading the boat up with Christmas trees! They cut them there in the forests and take them back across to Malliag. So I rode in scented spendor back across, as the sun was going down, sitting amid all these pine trees! Just wonderful! Had a really great looking guy who talked my ear off all the way over, and told me much of the history of the area including how they had been so destroyed by the 'clearances' in the 1800s. That was when the landowners decided to raise sheep there and literally kicked everyone out. Many of those displaced folks made the dangerous journey to America and Australia. That happened all over too, not just here. On all the islands as well, folks who had lived there for generations were evicted almost without notice.
Anyway, rambled on enough, down to four minutes so must go. Hope all are well and the Christmas excitement is building now to a fevered pitch! Stay well all......
