Sorry for the delay but here is the rest of my Christmas in Europe...
During our trip, we took day trips to two medieval villages: Eze Village and St-Paul de Vence. Unlike other cities we visited, these two were not on the coast, but rather up in the mountains. Eze Village (not to be confused with the coastal Eze Sur Mer) is a small pristine village elevated on a cliff with stunning views of the surrounding countryside and of the sea. The town is absolutely gorgeous, with small pedestrian streets winding through the stone buildings. It was really small, though, you can spend less than half a day getting through it all. That said, you could spend half a year and still not get tired of it! Since it was Christmas time, the town was decorated everywhere with teddy bears. They were on buildings, homes, street lamps, you name it. It was one of the most charming places I have ever been, and I can't wait to go back and spend more time there.
The other place we went, St-Paul de Vence, was similar in a lot of ways. The main difference was that it was much larger. This village is now the home to many of the region's artists and all sorts of arts and crafts were for sale in the many cute shops. We spent a day walking around and taking tons of pictures with the occasional stop for a crepe. (Mmmmm... ) I don't really know how to adequately describe these two places except to say I thought they were absolutely beautiful. I'll send some pics to Kim for the photo gallery and I have also put some others on the web here:

The other place we went during this trip was Cannes, home of the reknowned film festival. Surprisingly, I didn't enjoy Cannes as much as I would have thought. It was very ritzy, and was a shop-o-holic's dream (right, mom?) but I wasn't too interested in that. I did, though, have probably the best brownie I've ever eaten at the Christmas market there. No joke, this thing just melted in my mouth. All too quickly, I might add... I had to go back and get another one! I did have a good time wandering through the old quarter of town though. Whereas in the shopping area there were crowds of people, the old section was really tranquil and I had a good time just wandering. It was really pretty, but I don't think much different than many of the other coastal cities along the French Riviera.
Overall, it was a great trip. The area was incredibly beautiful and the weather was much nicer than snowy Prague. It was also really nice to see the ocean again and have fresh seafood (any seafood for that matter!). Yet another place I can't wait to return to and really get to know.
Cheers,
Ray
