Okay, I am curious as to how Prague has recovered from the bad storms either last year or year before? I remember seeing all that damage on the news and I know people move on, but, did this deter people from visiting? I wish to visit there but just unsure as to how they were doing?

Hi Laura,
Prague is definitely back in business after the floods. It is a large city in terms of land area, and the places near the river comprise a small (albeit extremely important) percentage of the total city.
During the floods, the Metro system got flooded and transportation was a nightmare. However, most Metro stations had been repaired by the time I got here in the beginning of March, and the remaining stations began normal operation a couple weeks ago.
There are some outlying areas of the city, particularly the neighborhoods of Karlin and Liben, that were devastated by the floods. These neighborhoods are still a mess as many were forced out of their homes only to see them demolished by the water. There is a lot of construction going on here, but they are far from restoring things to order. However, these neighborhoods are not tourist areas, and most visitors will likely go through Prague and not notice.
So, if you are thinking of visiting Prague, I would highly recommend it. The people and the city are moving on from the floods, the weather now is fantastic, and the beer still tastes great.
Cheers, Ray
