Well, I am very disappointed that as our schedule is coming together, it is looking more and more like we won't be able to make it over to Prague. The only option is to go from Landstuhl, Germany straight to Prague, and I don't think there are any cheap flights and the Euro doesn't go directly there. It seems a little bit too complicated. I REALLY wanted to go to Prague. I lived in Russia, but have never been to any of the other Eastern European countries. Also, I was hoping my fluent Russian would be of help to me in getting around and communicating. Of course, those from the former communist regime who were forced to take and speak Russian in school are not always too happy to speak it any longer...they want to cut all ties. So, I am not sure if it would have been an advantage or a disadvantage . But seriously, how much are we missing out on by not going to Prague? Is it really a very inexpensive place to stay? Do they have wonderful food or social life or cultural events that I will regret not experiencing? I am really sad about this, but I really don't see an easy way to get there, since we are stuck in some places certain dates due to factors outside of my control. Oh, well. I hope by going to Europe this time, it will whet my appetite and I will make it a priority to get back again in the future.

Prague is beautiful. Should you completely mess up all your plans for everywhere else for it? No, I don't think any place is worth that.
You will never be able to see everything, it just means that later you make another trip.
We did 17 countries in 7 months in Europe - but never went to Austria.. we just ran out of time and we had 7 months!
It's better to really see a place and spend more time exploring it then to spend days and day on the train only to see a little.

If it can't be done, it just can't be done. That said, Prague is an extremely magical place and will undoubtedly be the cheapest destination of your trip, by far!
As Kim said, even if you had a more time, there will always be places that you will miss. I have spent a considerable amount of time backpacking through Europe, and the list of places I want to visit but haven't yet keeps getting longer.
But just in case you didn't know this, EasyJet now flies to Prague from London Stansted. I actually just made that trip the other day (I know, I am SO behind on my updates!) and it cost me 40 GBP, or about US$65. It's a two hour flight, and easy to do. Just thought I'd throw this in there in case it is helpful.
Have a great trip! Ray
