Hey Cali Boy,
I am not familiar with hostels in Prague at all, since I have never stayed in one and have always had an apartment here.
As for places to party at, it all depends on what you're into. But whatever it is, you will find it here. The nightlife here is really good and the price is right. Let me know what you are interested in and I can give some recommendations. And keep me posted on your plans... if I am available, I can give you a personal tour.
Cheers, Ray

well thanks from replying so fast. 3 of my buddys and i are going to be in prague from the 9th of june to the 12th. when it comes to partying, we just like to chill, take back a whole lot of beer, dance, and have a good time. we are open to anything really. as long as we are having fun. i heard that you absinthe is legal over there. do you know anything about it, and if so, whats your thoughts of it? that would be so awesome if could me up, drink some beers, and take a tour of the town. thanks a lot man.

Hi Randy, Just saw your message, sorry for not getting back sooner. I was away this weekend in Bratislava, Slovkia ;D. Anyways, it sounds like you will have no problems finding what you are looking for. While walking through the center of the city, you will find countless beer halls, music bars, and discos/clubs. At that time of the year, venturing out to some of the outdoor beer gardens would also be a good idea. If you have a good map, there is a fantastic one in Letna Park overlooking the whole city. There is another great one in Riegrovy Sady park. These beer gardens are in large parks where people hang out, get some sun, then go get some beer. Great atmosphere in the warmer months. As for absinthe... it is a big myth that it is legal here. Absinthe is indeed sold all over the place, and you will find it at all the bars. However, this is not real absinthe. What makes true absinthe illegal is that it contains wormwood which can ultimately lead to dementia. I saw this stuff for sale once (I don't remember if it was in the Czech Republic or not) but the cost was close to US$300 per bottle. You can tell if it is real if it has wood chips drifting at the bottom of the bottle. The absinthe in the bars here and for sale all over the place doesn't contain this wormwood, and is legal here and most everywhere else. You will have no trouble bringing a bottle of this stuff back with you. It sells for about US$10 a bottle. As for what I think of it, I try not to. ;D It tastes foul and it will probably run your car. I've tried it and loathe trying it again. I like to give bottles of it to friends when I visit, or get them shots while they are here. I get a lot of pleasure from seeing others drink it. So, if you are interested... I definitely suggest you try it. Cheers, Ray

Hi Jacob,
You will have no problems finding absinthe here. You will find it in many stores and in store windows anywhere in the center of town. For you, the best bet would probably be duty free at the airport.
Cheers, Ray
