I recently heard of a town close to the Czech Rep. border called Cesky Krumlov. It sounds beautiful. Does anyone know any details about this area? Would it be worth a stop on my way from Munich to Prague? Oh, and Ray will you be around in June? Would love to get an inside look into Prague from a local if you have an afternoon to spare! ;D I'll be finishing up my 2 month Europe trip in Berlin on June 29th, I'll be passing through about a week or so before. Thanks everyone for all the great advice! Dani

Hi Dani,
Cesky Krumlov is indeed beautiful, and is one of the highlights of the Czech Republic. I haven't been there yet, but when my mom came out to visit and I was working the family went there as a day trip from Prague and loved it. They brought me back a coffee table picture book that is absolutely beautiful.
Though it is doable as a day trip from Prague, I have been postponing going there because I want to be able to do it right. I want to see green trees and grass, not dead grass and seemingly dead trees that we have here now, at the tail end of winter. I also really want to stay the night, because I hear seeing the castle illuminated at night is an incredible sight.
I will definitely be here in June. Just keep me posted on your plans and send me an email when the time gets close. I'd love to meet up!
Cheers, Ray

Ray, I completely missed you in Prague...kept meaning to write, but time goes so fast when you're over there! I just wanted to say that I LOVED Prague! And if possible, Cesky Kromlov more. So, if you havn't been already, next time you get the chance, go! I stayed at this great hostle too, Krumlov House. Kinda like a big hippie family, and right in town. I'm exploring options to go back for a longer stay. I should go back and read your entries about teaching over there. Do you find Czech still in need of teachers? Hmm, the possiblities!thanks again for your offer, next time I will be in touch before I visit! Cheers! Danielle

Hi Danielle,
Sorry to have missed you, but I'm glad to hear you had a good time in the Czech Republic. As for teaching here, there seems to be plenty of opportunity. There's more competition than when I arrived here, but there is also a lot of turnover and teachers staying for a year and then going home. That means jobs are always available, especially in the beginning of the school year (Sept) and at the end, when everyone goes home (June-July). If you have any questions, just let me know and I'll my best to answer for you.
Cheers, Ray
