Great question, I am wondering the same thing. Everywhere i've been, I've always bought a little sew-on flag or design from the place, I just bought a new backpack and was wondering if I should sew them on or not, as it would REALLY mark me as a tourist, probably the same for the Canadian flag I have, as I am canadian too... please answer us! great idea mandolin!

a most minor consideration....believe me, the moment you open your mouth or appear in public everyone will know you are a tourist. ;D And why does everyone consider this such a bad thing? It is, after all, what we all are when traveling.

ARE YOU GUYS NUTSSSSSS!!!!! SPORT YOUR FLAG ;D I just got back and had Canadian flags PLASTERED all over my bags - as did almost every single Canadian I met in my travels! I had sooooo many people ask me - why do canadians do that.......... I think the more interesting question is why don't others proudly show off where they are from! It was also an excellent way to meet other Canadians, many people just ask where you live - I did not find one person in the last 6 weeks who said they disliked Canadians in any way. It's a wonderful conversation starter - people will comment on it, but mostly they respect the patriotism. Go for it

Canucks i swear.. everyone had a flag plastered on every little thing.. Probably the only nationality i saw do this.. Some Americans but not many.. a little bit of aussies but all from Canada. So sport the flag you will find other folks from your country everywhere! cheers Gary

Hey! I just came from a short trip in Europe (25 days) and I found that the little maple leaf flag helped me out ALOT. In France, they were reluctant to help me but once they saw the red and white thier moods turned sweet and were very helpful...do display your flag!!!!!

I don't like the idea that people will suddenly treat me better if I am the same person and act like my usual courteous self, but their idea about my nationality has changed. Sure I would do this if my life depended on it, though. I have dual US/Canadian citizenship. Maybe I should put one flag for each on my stuff?
