from this months 'Budget Travel' comes this info: "Generator!" Is it the start of a budget chain? For several years now, insiders have been whispering about the giant, 837-bed hostel (largest in London, largest in the UK in fact) bearing a one word name, Generator........ Well now, Generator London has just been joined by the even larger (854 beds) Generator Berlin, 5 minutes by tram from Alexanderplatz....... Generator London charges 10GBP/$16 for dorm room, not much more for private rooms (of which there are a great many) generator Berlin was recently changing as little as 12 euro/$14 in the dorm, 27 euro/$31 per double....w/breakfast. nice article...these are just the main points. BTW....this is a great magazine indeed, chock full of info and one I heartily suggest for those of us looking always for deals.

their London hostel wasn't all that impressive to me. *lots* of schoolkids running about <mostly very young teen Germans>
by no means was this a "laid back" hostel!

I think it's under new management/ownership though - in the last little while or so.
The reviews have changed in the last little while, so maybe it's changed.
