I thought this was pretty interesting. Although it would seem pickpocketing has declined, according to the article, it's important to take steps to secure your valuables (whether that's under the clothes moneybelt, leg belt, etc.), particularly when you are moving from place to place and have your luggage with you, or are otherwise distracted.
