I just received the May 2006 edition of Travel & Leisure magazine (my first issue -- I thought I'd give it a try). This is entitled "The Europe Issue", and one of the featured articles is about "Italy's Secret City" which turns out to be Napoli. The headline reads "Is Naples frozen in a gilded past -- or forging a new identity as Italy's most vibrantly authentic (and undiscovered) city? A captivated GuyTrebay has the answer: Both". There are some good photos accompanying the article! I thought the timing of the article was quite interesting, given the fact that many people on the Boards don't seem to have much "fondness" for Naples!
I haven't read the article yet, so I don't have a good sense of what type of "focus" they approach travel from? However, my impression from reading T & L several years ago was that they tend to travel in somewhat of an "upscale fashion", probably not something that most of us here would be comfortable with.
This particular issue looks quite interesting from a European travel perspective, including a section on staying in a Tuscan Villa and sections on Austria, England, Belgium and Hungary. Perhaps I'll have some further details once I've done some reading, but it's a fairly thick magazine so it's going to take a while!!!
Happy travels all!!!
