I've been through these storms a few times, I hope everyone travelling there is safe, and Herrbert in the Netherlands is OK too. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6277537.stmCome to think of it, hope all in Canada and US are dealing with the snow too (OK, Canadians are used to it, but Texas - how you doing David?-, Oklahoma? Malibu??!).

We've been quite fortunate so far in the Okanagan Valley, and have escaped the storms that have hit the Vancouver and Victoria areas. We've had a bit of snow and it's been down to -20 or so for a few days, but overall not too bad. However, in the last two days we've had LOTS of snow and it's still snowing this morning. Shovelling the driveway has become a major chore and a pain in the a$#! The two local ski hills (Silver Star & Big White) are ecstatic though, as business has been great (apparently they were fully booked over the Christmas holidays).
Even though we should be used to it, I'm getting really tired of winter! Last winter was even worse, due to slipping on the ice and sustaining a serious leg injury that kept me in a leg splint for three months (although I didn't mind the time off work).
All the best to our European members though. I gather from this morning's headlines there have been a number of fatalities as a result of the storms, and of course major property damage. Hopefully it clears up soon!
I'm starting to look really closely at the Hawaii tour brochures!!! There are direct flights to Oahu and Maui from our local airport, so I may be travelling again sooner than I planned!
Happy travels all!

Dallas' weather probs were fairly mild. traffic slowed down earlier in the week, but wasn't a problem for me. ice hasn't caused a power outage here, yesterday morning was the 1st i really wanted to get out and most ice had melted by then.
we've got more rain in store for the weekend, but temps should stay over freezing. next week might be worse, though.
central & southeast Texas had it worse. and they almost never have freezes, so it's a big deal for them! [Dallas area often has 1 or 2 ice days a year. ice, & black ice, is a much bigger deal here than snow.]
the citrus crops in South Texas (California, too) are in danger from ice. much of the crops have been lost. [future prices will be higher as a result]

although reports from Northern Europe this morning were rather dire, things seem to be doing better now.
