We have finally arrived in Paris, so our trip is almost over. ): This morning, with a tear in my eye, I told Jamie that I didn't want to go to Paris (because I wanted to stay in our B&B in Brugge!). He never thought he'd hear me say that I didn't want to go to Paris! We're here now and I have changed my mind (well, almost!). Our hotel is quite something else... it's very old and a little depressing! Jamie's mad at me for booking it, but people who don't help plan the trip can't complain! We'll live, and at least it's clean! We're up on the 6th floor and no elevator! Our shared bath is out on a fire escape; at least it's on the 5th floor and not on the 1st floor like we originally thought!!
We've spent the afternoon wandering around the Seine islands and now we're in the Latin Quarter. It's nice to just wander around with no sightseeing plan. This is my thrid time in Paris and I still love it just as much, especially the area around Notre Dame. There's just something special about it. We stopped to see things that we hadn't stopped for before, like the Memorial of the French Deportation, the Sorbonne, etc.
Tomorrow we're going to see a few museums and climb Notre Dame and the Arc de Triomphe; both were closed due to a strike when we came to paris for the firsttime in 1999. Not much else to tell. Travel is starting to wear us down, so we're going to slow down and try to relax more (and try really hard to spend less money; we are WAY over my planned budget...).
