I recently noticed this item on another travel site, and thought GFE members might be interested. I've tried to verify the information from the DB web site, but couldn't find any links for it.
DB German Rail announced that a lot of the dates rail infrastructure in and around Frankfurt has to undergo open heart surgery in 2008. One of the bridges crossing the Main river and several miles of tracks have to be replaced. For that reason trains will not be able to reach Frankfurt's terminus station Hauptbahnhof from April 11-14, May 2-5 and May 31- June 1st and June 7-9. Trains (both regional and long distance) will then stop at Frankfurt Süd, Höchst, Ost, Airport or Offenbach station instead. I.e. that changing trains can include a change of train stations as well. DB says their website was already updated for long term planners.
Hopefully one of our members can confirm this.
Cheers!
