Hi everyone! Oh well ok, got all my digital camera stuff running!
Now, I'm an album freak and I need to process pictures and put them into an album.
I checked out prices and it's not such a better deal! I normally pay 7$ for a roll of 24 pictures and doubles.
Now, the cheapest I have found is wal-mart at 25cents per picture, doubles are the same price.
So, now I have 70 pictures I want to process. At normal cost, it would be 3 films, so about 21$.
Now, for 70 pictures x .25 = 17,50$ without any doubles! With doubles it's 35$. That just plain hurts!
I normally always take doubles because my friends rely on me to take pictures for everthing. I understand I don't necessarily take doubles of every pictures, but gosh it hurts the budget.
I was wondering if any of you knew a way to process pictures for cheaper. Not that it's much of a difference from normal processing, but I really thought it was less expensive than regular processing (although it probably comes out way cheaper because of the cost of film).
Thanks Jen

can you just use a color printer to print your own digital photos?

WOW I never actually did the math becuase I dont normally get my digital pictures processed - or at least I havent gotten around to it yet, but it always did seem really expensive to me.
The way I do it is to print just the ones I want on photo paper-we have a pretty good color printer and you can often get the photo paper buy one get one free. But it probably turns out better if you take them somewhere for processing. And now that I am getting into scrapbooking and want to print out all my photos I may start getting them processed.
Anyway, what I was thinking as I read your post was that are the 70 pictures you want processed just the 'keepers?' With digital not only do you save the cost of film, but you also only have to pay for the photos you actually want for your albums. And in the case of doubles, you can just pay for the ones your friends want copies of. No more getting a whole roll developed and throwing away 4 or 5 because they didnt turn out well. Or worse, having them lie around in a box forever becuase you can't bear to throw pics away even if they arent album worthy (like I do).
Sorry I couldnt really help, but maybe that will make you feel a little better - those 70 pics probably would have come from more than 3 rolls of film. Meg

Would you ever consider asking your friends to pay for their own doubles? I know it's slightly rude, but you did all the work to buy the camera, take the pictures, and get them processed - I don't think it's out of the question to ask them to pay you for the pics they want... Who knows, maybe it'll convince them to get their OWN camera! ;D
Just a suggestion - it's what all my friends I and do...

heheh yeah I know, they should pay, but we always do that, we are three that have a camera going and it's customary to have doubles and give them out, I don't know why, but they give me and I give them, don't ask hehehe!
I know i'm not getting all the pictures doubled, but still!
And yes, in the long run i'm probably saving because from 200 pictures, I'm processing only 70! So...
Wouldn't you need a fantastic printer to get good quality pictures? I wouldn't want to be cheap and sabotage my picture quality!
Oh well..I sent a few to WalMart online, I'll pick them up in a few days and see what they look like, I will send a few here and there and test the quality out! Then i'll decide where i'm going to send my batch!

I am MAD! They take 2 weeks before getting you your photos! Ok, 25cents instead of 39, but isn't 2 weeks a little abuse! It says no where on their site, I went to the store to ask when they'd be ready and she said it takes 1 week and a half before I get an email saying they are in the store, but she said not to come right away because they have not arrived yet when I get the email. it takes another 3 days! grrrrrrrr
