Hello all!
We last wrote from Barcelona - since then we've been to Provence, dipped our fingers in Dijon, saw Matrix in Paris, and took a night train to Venice. I know, lot's going on - we've just sent Mama updates for the webpage so I'm sure she'll get them up fairly soon.
We left Barcelona pretty happy to return to France. I liked Spain, but for some reason I really enjoy France. We went to Arles, and we were thrilled with our hotel. Yep, there's a lot of dog poop everywhere, but avoiding it's pretty easy. One surprising thing for both of us is how well behaved dogs are in France. They are everywhere - tourist spots, restaurants, metros, but they don't fight and are pretty quiet.
Arles was a good place for us to recharge - Rob started feeling a little sick so we took it easy in our posh accomodations (ok, probably not that nice, but it was by far the nicest place we had stayed in). We visited the city (site of the movie Ronin) which has a great Roman arena and other sights. We also took a day trip to Avignon and to Les Baux, a medieval castle in a great mountaintop setting. We also experienced the craziest French bus driver ever - quite a roller coaster ride!
We went to Dijon to try to see Ronchamp, the chapel designed by Le Corbusier, but we were thwarted by the French striking train workers. We'll have to come back again to see it We ended up taking a quick day trip to Paris to see Matrix Reloaded and to catch a night train to Venice. If you really want to know how silly we are, check out our website in a few days and look for the page entitled "Paris Reloaded"
We're now in Venice - wonderful, wonderful place! So much more beautiful and relaxing than we ever thought. It's just our second day, so we still have lots to see. WE've already ridden the vaporetto (water bus) about 6 times, just gliding around.
Thanks for all of your emails - we'll try to respond to as many as we can. Here's the web address one more time:

Hope all is well with you - Love, Mari and Rob
