;DHey Everyone!!! I just bought a ticjet from LAX to Dublin for $336 USD!!! I know, it's incredible. That includes all taxes and fees and whatnot. Total: 336!!! I bought it on Aer Lingus. I leave June 18 and it's a one way ticket because I don't know when I'm coming back. I'm trying to get to Madrid to do a travel study program in July and I must tell you that Aer Lingus also has ticket to Madrid for $70USD total! This is amazing and I had to let you know just in case you wanted to take this fare too. I also heard that from Boston, it's $215! Unbelievable! I originally posted this in Transportation section but I deleted it. I hope that worked. If it didn't, sorry, I'm really excited ;D p.s. I'm giving Madrid another try and I promise I'll go to the Prado

p.s. I'm giving Madrid another try and I promise I'll go to the Prado hey, don't just go to visit Prado because of me. i need to recognize that others don't have the same interest as i have. it's my form of egocentrism to assume others like the things that i like. that said, i do think it's a good idea to give it a try. there are some magnificent works of art there. i mean, you say that you went to the Louvre in Paris. fine art must appeal to you on some level. oh, the immigration control in some places will hassle you if you don't have a return ticket. [like London or anywhere in Germany] don't know if Dublin is such a place. anyone here know? [Amsterdam has been know in the past for lax immigration rules]

I'll find out before I leave when I'm coming back but it is so far in advance at this point that I'm not allowed to book it.
I was just joking. I definitely LOVE art and I want to go to the Prado. ;D

Nice find! I just found a round trip flight via Aer Lingus from Chicago to London for $355 (about $500 after taxes..but a steal non the less). Unfortunately they won't go far enough in advance for me to check pricing with my true return day of July 10th so that price may change. If that price holds up I just may be able to fly round trip to Chicago from Dallas and then round trip into London for about $700 in the summer ;D

What dates did you find this for? In general, you can buy tickets starting about 330 days ahead of travel (I think this has to be 330 days for the return segment, though).

NM, I just realized it'll cost that much for each way. I'll probably be better off sticking with another airline. Yes 330 days only goes up to June 10th. The only place I've been able to exceed the 330 day rule was with Continental and it quoted me $1500...forget that!
I'll probably be leaving June 4th and coming back back around July 5th or 12th (if I turn it into 6 weeks). I read in Rick Steves "Europe through the back door" book that airlines base the round trip prices on your departure date, but I've noticed that the return date can vastly alter the price of a ticket.
I think the later in July I wait to return the more it's going to cost me. Am I right with that assumption. Any how, I can't really start looking for airline prices for another month. I'd like to book them as soon as possible, but at the same time, I'd hate for a much better deal to pop up after I already bought mine.

That's the problem - no one can tell you for sure the best time to book, but it's very rare to get the best prices 11 months out. The best thing to do is get a sense of what "normal" prices are, set yourself up with Travelocity Fare Watcher and Orbitz Deal Detector and Airfare Watchdog alerts, as well as all the airline sales newsletters, and just monitor the situation. If you haven't bought by the six-month mark, start paying even more attention.
It's pretty rare to get a better price in the last three months (as compared to the previous eight), but it does happen now and again too.
It's a guessing game, and it's hard to guess right every time.
