Yes, the bus is often the cheapest route if you have the time to spare. I think it takes about 8 or 9 hours to get from London to Paris, and it would be an interesting change of pace. Another good site for cheap bus fares within the UK is www.megabus.co.uk .

I vouch for megabus/megatrain as well. Deep discount £1 train fares to various cities as long as it's going to or from London. Some cases, it may be £6 one-way but still... a huge bargain!

ah, Fun Fares. i remember first hearing that term as a child, listening to Southwest Airlines adds back in the 70's. i don't think they had *any* flights outside Texas back then.
Southwest still runs Fun Fares every once in a while.
