Well, after tinkering with my trip, I think that I may have an itinerary that I will try to use as a guideline for my trip. The only part of the trip that is really set in stone is that I have to be in Prague by Sept. 23, but after that, anything is game. So, I was just wondering if this is feasible, or if I am spreading myself too thin.
Arrive in Vienna late in the evening Sept. 6 Vienna: 3 Nights Budapest: 4 Nights Krakow: 4 Nights (Including day trips) Prague: 4 Nights (Including day trips) Fly from Prague to Dubrovnik on the evening of Sept. 23 Dubrovnik: 2 Nights Split: 1 Night Ljubljana: 2 Nights Venice: 1 Night Rome: 5 Nights Pompei/Sorrento/Almafi Coast: 2 Nights Florence: 3 Nights Innsbruck: 1 Night Salzburg: 1 Night Munich: 2 Nights Frankfurt: 1 Night Depart Frankfurt on Oct. 16
That's 36 nights, so there are four nights of leeway for travel and what not.

My only thing is that staying anywhere for just 1 night is exhausting. By the time you arrive, find your hostel, get something to eat etc a chunk of your day is gone. I'd say you'd be better off dropping a city so that you can have a more relaxing trip. For example, I think Florence to Innsbruck is about 7 hours, if you are only staying one day it will feel like you just got off the train.
I'd also drop a day in Rome (I rarely say that!) and add it to Venice so it's 4 in Rome and 2 in Venice. Venice is a gorgeous city, worth 2 days.
Like you said though, you do have 4 extra days which is good.

i agree with kim. why spend only one day in certain cities? you might as well drop some of those one day stays and plug those days into one of the major cities/sites. you should spend two days in venice and mayber an extra day in frankfurt.

Hey, Budwac,
i suggest dropping Frankfurt in favor of Mainz. Mainz has more "points of interest" and, i think, it's a more pleasant place to go.
Frankfurt airport is between Frankfurt & Mainz. it's *slightly* closer to Frankfurt.

Like Kim said, the distance between Florence and Innsbruck is too big, it would be a shame, to get to Innsbruck late in the afternoon, and to travel futher to Salzburg the next morning, I would add one day to Innbruck, so you can see the town, and feel more relaxed.
