Ok so I have I think I have come up with a pretty good itinerary. PLEASE help me if you know something wont work. I want to be able to use everyday of my 2 months. Also any suggestions on days in each city is welcome or a better city to go to. Here it goes-
May 16 - Depart Newark, NJ
May 17-21 London (Leave early AM on the 22nd to Paris) May 22-26 Paris May 27-28 Geneva May 29-30 Florence May 31- 3 Rome June 4-6 Venice June 7-10 Munich ( with Day trip to Rothenburg) June 11-13 Vienna June 14-17 Budapest June 18-22 Prague June 23-26 Berlin June 27- Brussels (get in early and spend the day and then be able to catch train to Brugge) June 28-30 Brugge (day trip to Ghent possibly) July 1-4 Amsterdam July 5-7 Copenhagen July 8-10 Stockholm July 11-13 Oslo July 14-15 Bergen 15-16 find a flight to london July 16 London to fly home
To go along with this.....I am probly going to take night trains for the longer trips. Can you just sit in the regular seats on these or do you have to reserve for a bed. I will be in 2nd class if that matters. And as far as just showing up at train stations is it relatively easy to catch a train with in a 1-2 hour window? Thats the only issue I think I will have if it even is one

Suggestion: - Maybe add on 1-2 more days on Rome. You might find yourself taking an unexpected day trip (i.e. take a daytrip to Pompeii via Naples)
- Skip Brussels. It's the same as Brugges but Brugges is better.
You can reserve a couchette. I think it's about $20 extra or something like that and you have to reserve ahead of time I believe. Otherwise, keep in mind that mid-May to August are prime backpacking time and you'd score a lot more by reserving WAY ahead in time. Expect some places to be shut down earlier than expected because sometimes the locals are on vacation. Can't say much for some of the cities (esp. the Northern cities such as Copenhagen, etc. I'm sure someone can help you with that shortly!

Hello nickvk!
I'm the great (lone) defender of Brussels, so I'd suggest keeping the one night you have there as you have also allocated 2 nights in Brugge, which you'll love too. If you get stuck for ideas of what to see/do in Brussels, let me know.
Also not sure about Geneva - any reason why you chose there and not somewhere else in Switzerland? If it's just as a stopover from teh train trip, maybe consider flying from Paris directly to Florence (AirFrance and Alitalia fly between the two, Air Meridiana used to but stopped the route last year I believe. They aren't cheap airlines, see what else you can find with t a search).
Suggestion for side-trip between Prague and Berlin (if you're training it) is Dresden.
Agree about Rome, although bear in mind a day trip to Pompeii will take up the entire day (travel + walking around the site). Not sure you'll be happy with just one full day in Florence - if you can stretch to 2 full days you'll have time to see the city and sights properly.
Are you taking the overnight train from Berlin to Brussels? Again, flying might be an option.
Good to see that your dates in the cities at the moment take into consideration the days on which the major sites are closed. By that I mean you're in Florence after Monday (when practically every museum is closed), Paris arrival is Tuesday, leaving the rest of the week when everything is open, Rome (the Sistine Chapel closes early Saturday and doesn't open that Sunday), etc.

Wow the date considerations are purely coincidence actually haha... I didnt even think of that. I guess i got lucky.
As for Geneva..you are exactly right, I kind of just picked it as a stop over on the long train ride. But I mean it does look like an interesting city unless there is something else on that side of the country?. I was thinking Zurich at first but it doesnt really fit in.
And your other suggestions I will definitely take into consideration..thanks for being so helpful and hopefully there will be more to help me get my trip perfect haha.

Don't get me wrong, Geneva is a pretty city, but there are other places in Switzerland that are prettier. Zurich, however, isn't one of them. If you are just using it as a stopover, then fair enough. But do check out flights between Paris and Florence if you aren't spending any more time in Switzerland or seeing any other cities.

Since i am VERY limited with time i'm planning on 2 nights in each place. Anyone who has any advice at all frankly would be a godsend also any travel buddies going my way, e-mail me. Below is the itinerary so enjoy LONDON - PARIS PARIS - ROME ROME - VIENNA (POSSIBLE STAYS IN BOLOGNA AND VENICE AS IT IS ON THE WAY) VIENNA - PRAGUE PRAGUE - WARSAW WARSAW - BERLIN BERLIN - AMSTERDAM AMSTERDAM - BRUSSELS BRUSSELS - PARIS PARIS - LONDON

ntonguy,
you should start a new thread for your trip's itinerary.
but, one bit of advice: Paris - Rome would be a *very* long train day! it's 14½, 15 hours!
easyJet has flights for €35, including tax & fees, if you book early. [this does limit flexibility, you must commit to a specific flight well in advance. but it save 13 hours of boring train time!]
some other places might be worth it to fly, too. look into it.

Make a new thread and I guarantee people will see your thread and respond to it. To be fair, nickvk made this thread discussing his own itinerary. So just put the same post you made in this thread and start a new one in this sub-forum
