Does this sound reasonable? I'm travelling with one of my friends and she wanted the itinerary to be like this:
May 18 - Athens May 19 - Athens (daytrip) May 20 - Athens May 21 - Flight from Athens to Santorini May 22 - Santorini May 23 - Santorini May 24 - Ferry to Paros May 25 - Paros May 26 - Ferry to Naxos May 27 - Naxos May 28 - Ferry to Athens May 29 - Leave for London
Originally, concerning the Greek islands, it was 4 nights Santorini and 3 nights Paros. My friend's really into the hiking stuff and she wants to visit Mt. Zeus so we took a night off Santorini and split up Paros and Naxos into 2 nights each.
Comments? I'm honestly having second thoughts. I thought about sticking to the 4 nights Santorini and 3 nights Paros and maybe visit Naxos for a daytrip from Paros?
P.S. We cannot change the date of arrival into Greece and departure from Greece (i.e. May 18 and May 29)

Hey PONR, I've not been to Naxos so can't comment on it with too great an authority. Have you considered splitting up for a few days to allow your friend to do her hiking on Mt Zeus and you can perhaps spend more time on Santorini or Paros as you were intending. As the ferry from Santorini to Paros is only 4 hours (to on the fast ferry) and the Paros-Naxos ferry is only 1 hour (30mins on the fast ferry), your time won't be taken up travelling between these places so you can easily spend more time on the islands you want to visit and still catch up with your friend on Naxos, even spend a night there, before returning to Athens.
It's just a thought, but it might work for you.

We are flying to Santorini anyways so there is no time wasted on travelling 9 hours via ferry from Piraeus. As you said, there is 45 min - 1 hr between Naxos and Paros, so it's not really too much of a problem with me. I just wanted to be sure that this itinerary is reasonable. Thank you for your comments! We've already found great accomodation for all 3 islands so yup, looking forward to it in May! *squee*

My friend's the kind of person who doesn't like to be alone and I don't mind splitting up the islands in the way I made it. Thought that might be the case - as long as you're OK with in (plus you get to visit more places!), then it all looks good. I'm sure I've written this before, but just in case - remember that May is just the start of the season in Greece. The magic opening date is May 1st (that's when the pools open and the air-con gets turned on - seriously!) so things are just starting to warm up (so to speak) and a few places like restaurants, etc, may still be closed until June 1st, but you should be fine on the islands you've chosen. Take lots of photos for us! ;D

LOL! I definitely will! I'm a shutterbug and I've already bought a gazillon memory sticks!
I'll probably be buying my plane tickets from Athens-Santorini with Aegean Airlines this weekend so I'm totally excited for this portion of my trip!

Hey PONR, I just wanted to say, good plan, don't have second thoughts. I tend not to recommend Naxos to people if what they want to do is party, because Naxos is more of a "family/wander around at the port/go to bed early" kind of place. I was stuck there for 3 days on my way to Mykonos last year beacsue the ferries wouldn't run due to bad weather.. so I know. BUT, there IS a lot to do during the day, like go hiking or visit cool local liqour-making places. So, OK, overall I think the original itinerary you posted pretty much covers everything. Also, be SURE to check out Punda Beach in Paros. It's the place to go. Oh, and, good call on only spending that long in Athens. If you are doing a trip as well though, be sure you know where to go in Athens, so that you don't waste time wandering around in.. shady areas. Sorry to have... intervened, let me know if I can be of more help! Gelgameck Gelgameck@hotmail.com

Ah, forgot about this post. We've decided to take Paros off and replace it with Naxos because we're more into the outdoors stuff and want to check out Mt. Za. We might do a daytrip to Paros permitting ferry schedules and time. So in the meantime, we've added on an extra night to Santorini.
so it'll be:
May 18 - Athens May 19 - Athens May 20 - Athens May 21 - Flight from Athens to Santorini May 22 - Santorini May 23 - Santorini May 24 - Santorini May 25 - Ferry to Naxos May 26 - Naxos May 27 - Naxos May 28 - Ferry to Athens (overnight in Athens) May 29 - Leave for London

That should be awesome... two years ago I was in Athens and went and saw Delphi and many other historical places and then did the Greek Island Tour on a Cruise. Saw all of the most popular islands including Santori and Naxos... It was awesome! I think you will have a great time.

PONR, I was reading an article on the weekend about cycling around Naxos and how it's a great way to see the island - thought you might be interested in finding out about it or asking your hotel if they have bikes for hire.

LOL. Thanks MTH, I think we will consider that although I'm a poor cycler - always complaining! But it does sound like a good idea. I'm not a good driver myself and I don't really want to rent a car or a scooter (I can imagine myself driving myself off a cliff) so I'll keep that in mind.

Ah, can't have you running off the road into a ditch now, so maybe it's back to walking! The article mentioned there are a lot of flat roads (not all) on the island, so maybe it won't be too nasty. There's always the donkey rides! ;D
