We've made it to Germany and we're using our German. Probably one of the most exciting moments for me was when I asked the train conductor (in German, of course) "Does this train stop in Moselkern?" and he answered "Ja". Ok, so it's not that big of a deal, but we've gotten one step past pantomime. Rob wants me to say that he was very proud of me. Our first stop was in Trier, which is on the Mosel River. A kind of big but small town, it's claim to fame was that Karl Marx was born and grew up there. We had a nice time seeing the sights, listening to an organ concert in the catherdral and eating lots of turkish pizza!Germany's answer to the burrito. Very, very tasty. Now we're in Freiburg, we'll be here for a few days, then on to Vals, a spa in Switzerland designed by Peter Zumthor. We probably won't be writing or updating our webpage for a while, but you'll here from us when we do!!! Unki says hi to everyone! (he's our mascot... you can see the bruges website page for more details). Love, Mari and Rob
