Hi everyone, I'm heading to Europe in May (less than a month -- little time to plan, but I can't pass up the opportunity) I've already booked the flight in and out of London, so that's the only thing set in stone. Please tell me if you think this is too optimistic, or if there are tweaks that should be made. I'd like to book baby flights, trains, hotels, etc. this week, but I don't want to make a stupid error.
Please note that I plan on flying between destinations, with the exception of the Prague/Vienna/Salzburg leg.
May 8 - Depart Atlanta May 9 - London May 10 - London May 11 - London May 12 - London to Dublin (fly) May 13 - Dublin May 14 - Dublin May 15 - Dublin to Amsterdam (fly) May 16 - Amsterdam May 17 - Amsterdam May 18 - Amsterdam May 19 - Amsterdam to Prague (not sure best travel yet) May 20 - Prague May 21 - Prague May 22 - Prague May 23 - Prague to Vienna (train) May 24 - Vienna May 25 - Vienna May 26 - Vienna to Salzburg (train) May 27 - Salzburg May 28 - Sazlburg to London (fly) May 29 - London May 30 - London May 31 - London to Atlanta June 1 - Die.
Thanks!!!
-Katie

Hi, Katie!
looks like a good plan. because i enjoy the mountains so much, i'd be inclined to include Innsbruck between Salzburg and your return to London. but, that's just me.
i'd suggest getting tix on morning flights. sometimes schedules get pushed back, and late day flights are more likely to be canceled.

Check www1.skyeurope.com/en/ for a flight from Amsterdam to Prague. Personaly I would add one day to Vienna, and leave out one in Prague. The rest seems flawless. But if you want to book some good flights on budgetairlines it's time to do so, as tickets will be only getting more expensive. Also I would leave out the option for th 1st of June

Katie, your plan looks fairly well organized. However, I most certainly agree with herrbert that you should delete the item planned for June 1!
One thing you might consider would be to drop one day from Amsterdam and add a day in Salzburg, in order to visit Hallstatt. Just a thought......
Happy travels!!!

Another option from Salzburg would be to visit Werfen. The Icecaves are spectacular www.eisriesenwelt.com, and the castle is a good attraction to see. It's also a little bit more into the mountains, yet 45 minutes by train.

I think we're gonna deduct an Amsterdam, and add one Vienna. I really appreciate all the advice and input -- this was all rather thrown together, but I'm now less stressed and more excited.

hi, Katie.
as you're spending another night in Vienna <good call> and will likely be staying near Wesbahnhof, the station from which Salzburg trains depart, [many hostels are in that area] you could catch the 08.22 train to Salzburg - that one gets to Salzburg in just over 2½ hours, faster than others. (fewer stops, maybe?)
if the hostel let you do this - i don't see why they wouldn't - take your breakfast with you, just eat it on the train.
that train gets to Salzburg early, you'd also have that whole afternoon to see more of Salzburg.
