Hello all -
We´ve made it through Budapest, Prague, Dresden and Berlin to Copenhagen. We made it to the zoo after our last email in Budapest, and it was both wonderful and crazy. The buildings and lush greenery were amazing, but there were tourists feeding the hippos bread and one English speaking tourist almost lost his hand petting a hippo! This would never happen in the states...
Prague was beautiful and wonderful. The city is so easy to navigate and enjoy. English speakers abound, and the city itself is fairy tale pretty. We ate amazingly good bagels and read the weekly English newspaper and learned about Czech politics and found out about some neat bowling alleys. Really a fun city to visit.
Dresden was also beautiful and wonderful, but for completely different reasons. The city felt like a place where people lived and worked and went about their daily business, not driven purely by tourism. We used (or Rob used) our German extensively, and we just enjoyed the pace of the city.
Berlin... what can you say about Berlin? It's a huge city, with so many great sites and museums and massive amounts of construction going on. It's a completely different place than the one that Rob visited 4 years ago. I can't believe that such a big city has such a great public transportation system. Again, it's also a place where there such a great pace that isn't reliant upon the tourist dollar.
We've just arrived at Copenhagen and we're staying with Rob's foster brother Ricky. We'll let you know our thoughts in our next email.
We can't believe our trip is almost at the end, although we knew it was close when Rob woke up stressed this morning about settling in DC and i dreamt about my former job. We'll let you know our closing thoughts in our final email.
We hope all of you are doing well!
Love, Mari and Rob
