I have booked all the Hostels and about to order the rail passes. Here is what we are looking at: travel.yahoo.com/trip-view-1169816-30_days_in_europe_2007Flying into London on July 14 from Dulles Airport (in DC area, about 10 minutes from my house). We then fly from London to Amsterdam July 19 (14:45-16:50 with EasyJet). We are flying back from Nice August 14th (British Airways open jaw ticket). Here is what we are thinking of doing Rail Wise: epicadventure.pbwiki.com/TrainAny suggestions? Going with my best friend and we have both been in Europe before, but only for about 10 days each (He did Italy with his family; I did some of Germany with my mom and then took off for France randomly on my own, mostly just Paris). Does that travel information look ok? Any suggestions?

everguide, your Itinerary looks well planned, so you should have a great trip (aside from travelling in peak tourist season). I didn't check your rail plans in too much detail, but I'm sure Railsaver suggested the best option. Be sure to check www.bahn.de in order to determine which of your rail trips will require reservations (trust me, you don't want to be caught without a reservation on a route where this is mandatory, as it's an expensive mistake!). Munich to Venice and Venice to Rome will most likely need reservations (I usually try to choose direct trips or those with minimal changes; Venice to Rome requires one change in Bologna I believe). One point though, regarding your trip from Rome to Riomaggiore. Are you aware that you'll have to change trains in La Spezia? Also the trip to Riomaggiore is very short (about 8 minutes) so don't get too comfortable on the train! If 8 minutes has elapsed, time to disembark even if the train has stopped in a tunnel! If you need directions on how to get from the station to the main part of town, post another note (or just follow everyone else). Do you have lodgings arranged in Riomaggiore? Just wondering as you will probably be greeted at the station by the famous Mama Rosa, offering accomodation. Don't forget to send us an update once in a while. Good luck and happy travels!!!
