How best to visit here...

Hey folks,

I'm going to be spending three and a half months in London taking classes and doing an internship. We get Friday-Sunday off, so we will travel all the time. I really want to visit Auschwitz, but I don't think I could make it a whole-day trip, considering everything else I want to see. What kind of itinerary could I make that lets me tour Auschwitz, but also takes me to other points of interest nearby? (Any points of interest.. major cities, other countries, whatever...)

The nearest city, and also the city, you most likely want to fly into is Krakow, and it is a nice city, in which it is pretty easy to spend a weekend.

Auschwitz is a place, you shouldn't want to rush. And it takes quite some time to see it. It's not a site, that you can compare to anything else.

strygun, given the distance involved, travel to Auschwitz and Krakow should be possible if you find reasonably priced flights. As herrbert mentioned, Auschwitz is a significant site and not something that should be rushed through.

As you only have three day weekends to work with, touring Krakow and Auschwitz would be about perfect in that time frame.
