This is the pre planning stages but I think I got what I want down.
I am getting the Ireland rail pass for five places in Ireland where bus fair is included.
Fly to Dublin and stay for three days. Take a bus to Kilkenny for 3 days. Take a bus to Waterford for 3 days. Take a train to Cork for 3 days. Take a train to Killarney for 3 days. Take a train to Galway for three days. Take a bus to cliffs of Moher and back. DAY TRIP! Take a train to Dublin. Fly home.
Planning on 2000$ for the whole thing.
Any thoughts? Is it possible? Any ideas or suggestions would be great! I tried to figure out the bus/rail maps and stuff.
THANKS!

ckat44, Welcome!
Your proposed Itinerary looks reasonably well planned, although I haven't checked each of the rail and bus links that you listed. It looks like the duration of your trip is about three weeks?
However, a bit of clarification on your travel budget would help. First of all, which currency are you quoting? Also, does the amount shown include your Rail pass and air flights (where are you flying from)?
I'm sure the others will have some comments as well.
Cheers!

It will actually probably end up being about two weeks or a little over..taking a day or so off some places. My goal is 2000 U.S dollars including rail and airfare but that is also a guess because I am not going until next summer. I've seen student airfare fairly cheap. So hopefully about 2k USD and a little over two weeks. Also I will be flying from DC. Probably in July or August.
Instead of what I wrote before I will probably be going to Kilkenny for 2 days and Killarny for 2 days.

I wouldn't say Killarney is a must-see... but the nearby "Ring of Kerry" is... Most hostels in Killarney offer a signup for a guided bus tour through the Ring of Kerry... it'll cost about 10-15 Euro... definitely worth it.

I wouldn't say Killarney is a must-see... but the nearby "Ring of Kerry" is... Most hostels in Killarney offer a signup for a guided bus tour through the Ring of Kerry... it'll cost about 10-15 Euro... definitely worth it. It's a pretty town (great chop house on the main street - Mulligan's!) and accommodation is good for accessing the Ring of Kerry, the Ring of Beara and the Gap of Dunloe (all about the scenery!). Also good for exploring the National Park, lake and Muckross Estate if the weather is good. IMHO 3 days in Killarney is a good amount of time to properly experience this region, but 2 will do fine if you need to adjust your time. One area you don't seem to have listed is the western peninsula, in particular Dingle. You could stay there 1 night (or 2!) between Killarney and Galway, (take the time from Waterford or from the days you've adjusted for Kilkenny (2 is enough, even though it's a great town) and that way fit the Cliffs of Moher in on the way to Galway (or as a day trip ifyou don't make it that time). Also remember to try to get out to the very west of Galway into the Connemara - gorgeous! I do think that you'll find 3 days in Waterford too long, but it does depend on your plans for that region in terms of sightseeing.
