After much research, I planned on going to pari-vienna-amsterdam, but figured i could fit in another city or so sice i have the time. Let me know if this sounds doable: On 5 day selectpass: Paris: arrive may 14 stay 3 nights leave paris take night train to munich(or salzburg?) arrive, stay 1 night, take train to vienna stay 2 nights in vienna, take day train to amsterdam stay 2 nights take train to paris fly home!

I'd omit Munich/Salzburg from the itinerary. Your trip is shorter than what most people would plan for so 3 cities max. is recommended.

although i may have made this suggestion before, it bares repeating:
depending what else you do on this trip (you list 8 nights yet the thread title sez "2 week europe Itin help," that leaves 5 or 6 more nights to play with) it could work much cheaper to fly Paris - Vienna and Vienna - Amsterdam, paying point-to-point for the train back to Paris. [there might also be a really cheap bus (coach) for Amsterdam - Paris]
this 4-country (France, Benelux, Austria & Germany. between France & Austria, and Austria & Netherlands would go via Germany) 5 day youth select pass is US$376.
Paris - Vienna night train takes 15 hours. a Paris - Vienna flight takes 2 hours and costs as little as €25.76! including tax!
Vienna - Amsterdam is 11 -18 hours on a day train. a Vienna - Amsterdam flight takes about 2 hours, too, and costs as little as €67.18. including tax.
both of these flights can be found on SkyEurope.com
Amsterdam to Paris point-to-point tix will not cost nearly as much as the difference between €92.94 and US$376. (you also need to add reservation fees to the US$376)

garbagegirl, I have a few comments to add to the others.
I don't know what flights are available from your area, but I'd structure the order of cities a bit differently for best efficiency. Would something like this work:
> Fly to Amsterdam (Schipol) - 2 nights > Train to Paris - 4 nights > Train to Munich (travel time would be about 6H07M, depending on which train you select) - 3 nights > Train to Salzburg (less than two hours, depending on train selected) - 2 nights > Train to Vienna (about 2H35M, depending on train selected - 2 nights > Fly home from Vienna
Except for Paris to Munich, most of the trips are short so wouldn't require a full travel day. One other thing to keep in mind is that you'll lose the first day in flight times and time zone changes from North America (you'll also probably need at least one day after you return home to get organized - is there any way you could squeeze a bit more time than 14 days?).
Good luck and happy travels!
