So this is my rough itinerary so far. The first leg is mainly night trains to cover the large distances.
*2 days Hamburg
Hamburg to Berlin
*4 days Berlin
Berlin to Krakow (O/n train)
*5days Krakow (Including daytrip to Auschwitz)
Krakow to Prague (O/n train)
*Prague 5 days (Including daytips)
Prague to Budapest (O/n train)
4days Budapest
Budapest to Vienna
*5days Vienna (including daytrips to Salzburg & Bratislava)
**Here I am considering adding a 3 day "Chill period" bc i have friends just outside of Vienna I can stay with. Just to recharge. Good idea?
Vienna to Munich
*2 days Munich (including Daytrip to Castle)
**Can the majority of Munich be seen in one day if I join a tour? ain reason for going here is the Castle
Munich to Luzern
*2 1/2 days Luzern
Luzern to Interlaken/Grindelwald area
*4 days (Not sure of where/itinerary yet)
Interlaken to Lausanne
*3/4days (including trips to Vevey &/or Geneva)
Lausanne to Geneva
*Early morning sights before afternoon flight to Rome
4 days Rome
Train to Bari for Overnight Ferry to Dubrovnik *Or flights if in season
*3 days Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik to Split *(via Sarajevo)?
*3days (including daytrip to an Island)
Split to Rjeka/Zagreb
??
Rjeka/Zagreb to Ljubljana
* 2 days (Including Lake Bled)
And that's it so far. I have an extra week/week and a half so any sugestions would be great
Notes
I've been to Vienna already, so that's why I only have 3 days there.
Florence -I am not at all intertested in art, only modern art, so Maybe one museum and the tower, hence it's only going to be added if there is a cheap flight from Geneva
How expensive are night trains in eastern europe... ? I am going to venice next weekend and using a nightrain from Paris it cost 75 Euro. Is this average? I can't find prices
Fly to Rome or Florence, from Geneva (easyjet & flybaboo)
Dubrovnik to Split **Does the bus go via Sarajevo? I've heard it does.. Would like to visit there. even just a few hours in transit.
Split to Rjeka or Zagreb **Which?
Zagreb/Rjeka to Ljubljana *staying in Bled or Ljubljana?
