I just came back from three weeks in Crete, I stayed in a small lodge just outside of Chania. It was recommended by a friend from Uni.
I have to say that it is a great place to stay, big apartment, clean, with air-con, a small kitchen and all that for 30 Euro a night. Highly recommended.
