Still here - still kicking!

I thought I would write a quick note just to say that I'm still here and still kicking! In the last little while I have had almost no access to the internet at the foyer. As a result I haven't updated in a while.
I'll get back to all the trip stuff in my next entry for this one let me just mention a couple of things about Paris.
Life here has had its ups and downs. Right now it's on an up because I woke up to an incredibly beautiful fall day in Paris.
Admittedly living in a foreign city where the people can be less than friendly has been terribly difficult. At the beginning after Mohammad left I felt particularly sad. At that point I hadn't made any friends here and it was rough to come here and be alone all the time and on top of that have bad experiences outside of the foyer.
In the last little while though I have made a good group of friends and that has definitely helped to ease things! There is the Irish girl studying at Science-Po, the British girl also at the Sorbonne and a beginner in French, the French girl who was my original roomie, and the Danish girl who is my current roomie.
We've gone out several times just to go get crepes or coffee and its been fun. Unfortunately none of them like opera so I'll be heading off to Tosca by myself this weekend.
In terms of school that has been quite an experience. I have two hours of grammar and one hour of phonetics ever day. On top of hat I have lectures three times a week - litterature, French history, and art history. All the classes are quite good and I honestly feel I'm learning a lot.
As I wrote to Mohammad - I now understand why the Sorbonne is the Sorbonne.
So that's that for me. Now I must be going 'cause studying and other misc. stuff awaits!
