Hi everyone!
Just thought I'd tell you all about the wicked trip I just did around Europe! I just got back from backpacking around Europe for the past 3 months, and it was absolutely amazing! I started in San Sebastian and went right up to Amsterdam, Berlin, then down through the Czech Republic, then as far South as Rome, then back up to Nice and Madrid. It was the best thing I have ever done.
I'm not sure if you've heard about it, but I did it all on Busabout. It's an amazing tour company that's not like your normal Contiki tour. I got a bus pass that I used to hop on and hop off the network, and I could change my travel dates as many times as I liked. Which was great, because I thought I'd only want to stay in Cesky krumlov for a couple of days but ended up staying for almost a week! And I met so many great people along the way. I had a blast!
Anyway, just got home and I can barely wait for my next trip. I'm thinking Eastern Europe this time. Anyone thinking of going early next year? Any advice from anyone who has already been? Eastern Trekker have some pretty cool tours that I'm looking at. Any advice would be awesome!

Hey carlyb i'm stoked for how good your trip makes me even more excited for mine. i was just curious about the Busabout program you used was it like a tour deal or could you just get on any bus when ever you wanted. Also i was just curious about how expensive your trip was overall. Thanks Jason aka paddlebum

That is fantastic to hear Carly I have booked with Busabout and I start my 3 month Europe trip in July. With Busabout basically you choose which pass you want to - they do lots of different ones depending on where you want to go and that will determine how much it will cost. Once you have bought the pass it is valid for the season - May to October and for that season you can hop on and off the bus on the loop you have chosen, once you have done the entire loop you can keep going all thru the season on a standby basis. The buses come every 2 days and you can choose to get on or not depending on if you like a place and want to stay longer or have met people you want to stay on with. You book your seat on the bus online thru there website and can change it as often as you like and there are no charges. Below is there website and also there chatabout site where you can see posts from ppl who have done it before where they answer all your questions. There are Busabout guides on the buses so they can give you info on each place, but they are only there if you need or want there advice ,so it's not like an organised tour, plus if you are struggling to find accomodation they will most likely always be able to get you a bed. Also there is a Mybusabout section on the website that you log into and can book accommodation thru - they have basically researched each destination and found the best all round hostel for that location taking into accounts cost, location and atmosphere, the good thing about staying in there recommended places is that you are dropped off and picked up on the doorstep, plus if you are travelling alone or want to meet people you keep bumping into ppl all the way along the loop. www.busabout.com/www.busabout.com/chatabout/default.aspOnly 30 days till I leave, wahoo!!

When carlyb first posted I didn't comment, but suzannem has made me smell some ambush advertising?!!
Busabout is a good product, great way to travel almost solo yet still meet people, but so much gushing about it from two relatively new members (one of whom hasn't logged in again since) makes me wonder...are things that slow in the Busabout office folks?!!

I have never been to Germany. The only place in Europe I have been is Portugal and maybe stepped into the border of Spain. Maybe some day I can go to Germany:
