I will be traveling with a friend to Amsterdam at the end of September and am looking for recommendations on things to do outside the normal tourist spots. Are there any great pubs, bars, clubs you can recommend? What about a reasonable hotel? Any great food places I sure be sure to enjoy? Any tours that are amazing? I will be in Amsterdam for about 3 to 4 days and am looking forward to an AWESOME trip.

Hi Crispike,
Can't help you with a hotel (Amsterdam is so near, I always drive back home).
If you are looking for a nice decent restaurant check out the Kop van Jut, Leidsekruisstraat 24. It's small but very cosy.
If you like live music, you can check out clubs like Paradiso, the Melkweg, and the Westergasfabriek. As a bar, I would say "De Heeren van Aemstel".

I haven't stayed here, but it seems like a good deal if it's not already booked: www.sanluchesio.nl/We have stayed at the Eden Amsterdam and the Armada, both near Rembrandtplein. We got good deals on them through www.booking.com but I doubt that good deals are available right now for them. If you want to be in the nightclub/Red Light district, consider this hotel (not really my style, though): www.winston.nl/I wouldn't say it's amazing, but New Amsterdam Free Tours offer a pretty good deal: www.newamsterdamtours.comNote that you should tip if you enjoy the tour. A restaurant that I liked is Meneer Nilsson at Plantage Kerklaan 41 in the Plantage. Try their Crema Catalonia. I like this place because you can order stuff in Spanish (it's actually predominatly a Spanish restaurant despite the Swedish name).
