Hello, my name is Amber and I will be in Prague in April of 2009.
Out of curiosity, do you know of the reputability/price/how common it is to hot air balloon in Prague? I've always dreamed of it, so since I'm taking my dream vacation I thought...why the hell not?!
Thank you.

Hi, I've never done this before, but I would definitely like to do it as well. I wouldn't worry about the reputability, it should be as safe as anywhere else, but cost is another matter. There are a few companies that do trips, but most of the ones I've seen are outside of Prague, and generally cost around 275 Euro per person. I don't know how many people you need. But there is one company: www.baloncentrum.cz (unfortunately, only in Czech) This company offers balloon trips for the cheapest I've seen (but I haven't looked too hard). Trips are about 5200 CZK per person (a little over 200 Euro) but these are also outside the city. They also offer another product, called "upoutany balon" that is in the center of Prague. This one only costs 800 CZK per person (about 35 Euro, more or less) and takes two people up in a small balloon right in the center of Prague. This looks fantastic, and I think this would be a great thing to do. On the website you can see the pictures, and there are also a bunch posted on Flickr from people that have done it. Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, just let me know. Ray

Since I'll be there during shoulder-season, perhaps I'll try just booking in Prague and seeing what kind of bargains I could get. Thanks for your input!
