www.worldnomads.com/Anyone used them? Any good? Any recommendations for any better insurance providers? I'm 17 (going to be 18 at the end of feb), and am planning on leaving at the end of January on a year long working holiday to the UK and Europe. I'm from Australia.

aussiechick007, I haven't used World Nomads for travel insurance, but they seem OK. Another option is to go through your private health insurer in Australia, if you have one. See what policies they have and how they compare to World Nomads. And great to see you're getting travel insurance - even if you never need it, it's good to know it's there (and your parents will be happy too!). Make sure you read all of the fine print and know what you're covered for (eg skiing, lost luggage, replacement costs, etc) before you sign/pay. That way you can enjoy your time away. As a side note, Australians are covered for medical care (esp hospitals, etc) in many reciprocating countries in Europe, so check this link www.delaus.ec.europa.eu/VisitingEurope/MedicalInsurance.htm for a little more information. This doesn't mean you can get away without travel insurance, but it's a bit more information to help you on your travels.

Oooooh thanks heaps for that info. Yeah my parents don't like that I'm going to Europe to start with lol.
I don't have private health care in Australia... so that's out of the question...

I thought Australia has universal healthcare.

Medicare is the national healthcare system operated by the Federal Government and covers healthcare in the public heath system, but if you want extra cover and the choice of private facilities (eg in hospital) then private health insurance can also be purchased. It's not manditory, but acts as extra cover which can reduce wait times, particularly for specialists, and expensive medical procedures.
