www.cnn.com/2008/TRAVEL/getaways/11/28/hostels/index.htmlInteresting article about "older" people over 30 who are choosing to stay in hostels. Also some interesting stats about how hostel usage is actually increasing. One interesting benefit that is not always touted - staying in a communal hostel dorm may save energy and resources compared to having a private hotel room.

WT, interesting article!
I suppose that means I'd fit the description of a "Flashpacker"? I wonder how this differs from the "Elder Hostel" concept?
Cheers!

The "ElderHostel" concept seems a bit of a misnomer. These are educational programs, done as part of travel, for people over a certain age (I think 55). The participants generally stay in 3* hotels. I've always wondered where the "hostel" part comes in, as none of the programs I've read about involve hostels.
