As I have already posted my 23 day itinerary in the itinerary forum, I am also looking into travel insurance. Anyone have any tips/advice on the best travel insurance for a 23 day trip? Is it even necessary for that length of time? I will be visiting England, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland and France.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

fsuhsl, I'd suggest purchasing Travel Insurance no matter how short your trip is as you just don't know what might happen - hopefully nothing dramatic!
There are a few options for you, depending on your country of residence:
Credit Card - some c/c companies offer insurance if you have purchased components of your trip on their card, just check what is offered and covered.
Private Health Insurance - if you have this, then look into their travel insurance options as some offer discounts to existing policy holders.
Other TI providers - the larger ones like Covermore, STA, ING, etc are well known and reliable, but again check the small print and make sure you are covered for the things you need. Online TI companies can be good (eg World Nomads gets good reviews) but not all are legitimate so tread carefully on that one.
The good news is that a 28 day policy will provide enough coverage for your flights and trip and won't take a very big chunk out of your budget.

Just to echo MTH I would always say to buy travel insurance no matter how short your trip. I have had 2 very good friends really need to use their insurance on week-long trips.
I can't comment on US/Candian based insurance but I was supprised at how affordable travel insurance was. I have worldwide insurance for me and my son that last 12mths and it worked out about £50. I like the annual cover because if I'm booking a short break I don't have to look for insurance because it is all ready there.
Just a note of caution always read your policy and the small print. It's easy to tick travel insurance off your list and chuck the policy in a drawer but you need to know what you exemptions are. I know some insurances were not covering vehicle hire and some people I know hired some mopeds. They crashed the bikes then found out their medical expenses were not covered.

I just purchased my insurance through Manulife here in Canada. After pricing around I found them to have the best deal by far. $115 for 26 days coverage. That's medical, cancellation/interuption, etc.

The overseas traveling means lots of planning. You have to search for the most appropriate place and should think about the consequences that you can face while traveling. And to get a perfect solution for all this is to have travel insurance. Travel Insurance will help you in covering your monetary expenses during the whole voyage.
