Silly as it may seem, I now recommend checking about weekly, and daily in the last few days beforehand.
The reason is because I discovered on Sunday that I was booked with a bankrupt airline, Alma de Mexico. But it suspended operations Nov. 9. I know I had looked up flights there sometime after Sept. 22, when they did a schedule change, but clearly not in the past six weeks.
Anyway, I think my trip to Mexico will be fine (assuming I can even get out of SEA airport later this week, given current weather) with some adjustments. But I have heard many accounts of people not finding they were booked with a defunct airline until they are at the airport, at which point your options diminish.
Other times, by checking regularly, I have caught significant schedule changes, which I never heard about otherwise. I was then able to get these fixed up.

Great point, WT! And I hope your trip still goes OK, weather, airlines and all.
Happy and safe travels to all over the holiday period!

WT, re-checking flights is a really good point! Thanks for the reminder.
I'd also like to "second" MTH's best wishes for a happy and safe trip!
Cheers!
