Been struggling to find anywhere on-line with train times during my trip(not sure if its a case of them not being published yet). Reason Im wondering is that i want to book hostels but dont want to do so until i know for certain if i can travel to certain places on time.
Was wondering if anyone knew if there would be trains every day for the trips im going to be making...
Paris - Berlin Berlin - Prague Prague - Vienna Vienna - Venice Venice - Rome Athens - Thessaloniki Thessaloniki - Sofia Sofia - Budapest(via Belgrade)
cheers chaps, spud

Thanks very much, those links were very useful indeed!
I have a query about my rail pass... Im planning on buying the interrail monthly pass, how does it work, do i take it to the ticket office in the train stations in order to book a seat on the train or what?
cheers in advance, spud

spud,I'm assuming the Interail Pass operates in much the same way as Eurail Passes. If that's the case, you'll need to validate the Pass before using it for the first time. Present your Pass and your Passport to the ticket agent, and they will activate the Rail Pass by "stamping" it. Again, assuming it's the same as Eurail, you'll have to pay for reservation fees separately. I usually buy these at the nearest station a day or two prior to travelling. Tell the ticket agent that you are travelling with a Rail Pass, and ask for a seat reservation on whichever train you'll be using. You may find it helpful to read the information at www.ricksteves.com/rail/usepass.htm. Cheers!

spud, Trenitalia should be showing the Venice-Rome times, otherwise rest assured that there are trains pretty much every hour during the day, less frequently after 6pm, many of which are the Eurostar Italia (ES) fast trains. If you look at the times for a month or so earlier than you're travelling, you'll get an idea.
As a general rule, timetables are usually published 6 months in advance, however this can vary from site to site and country to country, which can be annoying when you're trying to plan accurately. Just plug in dates as close to your travel dates as possible and use them as a guide, knowing that in Summer trains can increase in services rather than decrease as it's the busy period.

Thanks very much guys, I couldn't have organised this trip without the help from this forum, it's been a great source of information for me. I'm very excited for the trip and it is good to have something to look forward to for when university finishes up for the summer. I'll definitly keep posting and checking the forum regularly, im sure ill have plenty of questions between now and the beginning of the trip. Will also be sure to leave a detailed account of my trip after the event.
cheers everyone

Good to hear that you have everything planned. It is always a moment to relax, and just wait until the travel jitterbugs come. (usualy a couple of weeks before the travel itself.)
Have fun crossing off days, and of course on the travel itself.

spud, if you still take the fast train (Eurostart Italia) from Venice to Rome you'll sneak some extra time into Rome that has been moved to Athens. Enjoy DP!
