Hi All! I will be taking the train from Barcelona to Paris but would like to make a stop in between so the ride isnt as long. I was looking at Marseille but from what I have been reading not the best city? Any suggestions?

sunshine22, I'd suggest either taking the overnight train which will take care of accommodation for one night, or consider stopping in either Bordeaux or perhaps Lyon/Burgundy region.

Carcassonne, would be my choice.
As far as time is concerned it is somewhere in the middle. You need about 5 hours to get there (via Narbonne), and about 5-6 hours to get from Carcassonne to Paris (in Narbonne you can take the TGV to Paris.)

Carcassonne, would be my choice. Good point! Is a much better choice than Bordeaux. Otherwise Lyon is also a TGV-linked city and has good food, wine and a few sights as a bonus.

Marseilles has good and cheap public transport. Being on the the Mediterranean coast with the white mountains to the North.

You can get stay near airport if you need to take rest before to take off in next flight. There are lot of hotels which offer accommodation at cheap rate or for short intervals.
