I'm taking advantage of Good Friday to begin my packing. I leave in less than 3 weeks and my schedule is jammed between now and then. Today is my last "free" day before I leave. So, I've spent the day digging out all my travel stuff and organizing it.
What am I missing?? I know I"m forgetting stuff!
Toilletries shampoo deodorant toothbrush + cap toothpaste baby powerder Q-tips electric razor nail file nail clippers soap dish + soap quick-dry towel quick-dry facecloth
First Aid mole skin band-aids ( a few different sizes) ibuprophin wet ones Tums
Other stuff travel alarm 3 packets of liquid detergent in baggie travel lint brush (I take a lot of black) lock battery charger + 4 batteries camera + SD cards money belt baggies (assorted size) sewing kit

I would buy the detergent when you need it. Also take (or buy) a douche gel, that can also be used as a shampoo. (saves a bottle, and the soap). scientifically speaking q-tips are unnessary, as the ear is a self-cleaning organ. The alarm I would only bring if you don't have that option on a mobile.
As you can guess, I try to travel light. (I also use the mini versions of shampoos / deodorant.)
One thing you need to bring: Earplugs.
You probably know, but make sure you pack some of these things in the check-in luggage, and not in the carry on.

I had a real bitch of a time finding detergent last time I traveled. At least something at a half decent price that would only do a load or two without dragging around a bottle or box. This stuff arelittle packets that I got for free. They take up no space and weigh next to nothing.
And I need to take the soap for my face (allergic to a million different things in soup) and the tradeoff is no shower gell. So, I'm doing what you recommended only in reverse.
I also don't have a mobile so the alarm goes.
But yes! Earplugs...and flip-flops for the shower.
Almost everything I mentioned above is going in my check-in and not the carry on. The only thing I'll take in that is the bare minimum (and the electric razor as my friends "dissapaared" from their luggage).

I dunno but to me a water bottle would be a good idea, maybe a book and a deck of cards...

And I need to take the soap for my face (allergic to a million different things in soup) My mother has the same problem, so I understand that completely. She does the same thing.

heheh...soup, soap...so close! I agree about the book! I always have one when I travel but I'm an uber fast reader so I usually pick them up along the way and leave them behind in the hostels. Soemone is always looking for a good read!

From that list, what CAN I take in my carry on?
I want to take my small bag of makeup (foundation, sponge, compact) and my electric razor. Is that acceptable? Along with some clothes (jeans, etc). I can't remember if the razor will be an issue or not.
I"m starting to panic. I leave next week and ARGH..I don't feel I"m ready.

I got away with some disposable razors in my carry-on luggage on my recent trip, but I can't be 100% sure they are allowed, or were just overlooked. It must be on a website somewhere. A few months ago, I flew from Vancouver to Calgary and they took away my nice little pair of nail scissors because I had forgotten to remove them.

Don't worry about not being ready - you are way more prepared than most travellers will ever be. If you have forgotten something, you can buy it there.

Which luggage did you end up using, and how did you like it?

I've been so busy that I haven't been around much. Sorry for taking so long to respond.
I went with the wheeled luggage and I'm thanking my stars that I did! There were a few times it was a pain in the butt, but for the most part it was brilliant. I think, in total, I did something like 27 diffferent trains and it was easy to stow and lug around. It also was fine on the tube at at the hostel. The only time I really missed it was when I had to do stairs and that wasn't a big deal.
