I made my first trip purchase today, two aquis 'traveler' microfiber towels, large. One for me, one for my travel partner. Ive heard they are great for backpacking bc they take up less space than reg towels and dry quickly. I also have long, thick hair so was hoping that would help there too. I just was wondering if anyone else had any experience with these? I should have asked before I bought them, but I got ahead of myself and next thing i knew, i was filling in the shipping and billing info

I bought one 5 years ago and it's still going strong! Mine came from MEC (Canadian) and it kicks butt. I have short hair so it's not that big a deal, but you can wring it out when it gets too wet. The thing is, this won't give you the same "dry" feeling of a big, fluffy towel, but it will get you dry enough to get into your clothes and then dry quick enough for you to repack. It also takes up only a fraction of space.
I also won a small (very small) towel from this very website years ago that I use as a facecloth.

awesome! I have very very long hair, it hits the top of my hips/butt actually. I think I have decided to do a drastic short cut when the trip time comes, i want something short and easy, as long as i can pull a couple of inchs into a band i'll be ok. ok, ill prob cry when i cut it, lol, but ill be donating it to locks for love so that will help when the time comes.
