Hello everyone, I am leaving May 29 for London from San Diego. I will be backpacking by myself till July 8. Within that time, I am having some trouble planning a route out. I have a friend in Krakow, Poland and some buddies that live in Greece that I would like to see. Other than that I completely open to suggestions. I will be budgeting roughly 100 euros/day. I plan to fly from London to Amsterdam from Amsterdam work over to Krakow Krakow south-Prague,Vienna Not sure if I should go east or west Either way I am planning on seeing Italy, France, possibly Spain etc. Again any suggestions would be tremendous.
Thank You, Robert

I am leaving May 20 from San Diego to Paris and backpacking until August 29. It sounds like you will be having a lot of planning to do. Do you have any airline tickets booked so that you are fixed to a time? You plan on visiting 7 countries in a little over 1 month? If you are planning on a trip of this size, you might want to add another few more weeks or months. I will save the route planning for some of the expert on here.

I just want to be sure about a couple of things. Are you also flying back from London? It makes a lot of difference in the way you should plan your trip, that's why I am asking. If you have an open jaw ticket, than check from which places it is possible to fly back to SD.
Where do you friends in Greece live? If they are in Athens it should not be so difficult to meet up with them. If you want to go to Greece, make sure what you want to see there. Flights are the best way to get there & back. You have to look around and check from which places it is best to fly. Normaly the Easyjet flight from Milan is one of the cheapest, but there are also other flights from/to Rome and Naples that work out fine. For cheap flights it is also necessary to book ahead.
The 29th of May is in a month, and that is really fast, and May also sees the start of the busy season in Europe, so you want to make a plan fast, and start booking ahead hostels. (at least with a budget of a 100 euros a day, I presume hostels are the way to go.)
Also country names don't say a lot, it is all about the places and sights you want to visit. So if you can tell us a bit about your interests, than it will be a lot easier to give recommendations about where to go.
In general, I think heading from London to A'dam (maybe via Eurostar adding Paris and/or Brugge?) is a good idea. Berlin is almost always a good bet. From there you can make it to Krakow (it's always a long ride to Krakow, and sometimes it works out better to search for a cheap flight, from places further away, rather than Berlin and Prague.) if you go by train, you can make it from Berlin and than go to Prague - Vienna. Checking the countries on your list, I would go west instead of east. and head over to Italy. (maybe adding Salzburg and Innsbruck in Austria before doing so), in Italy you have a lot of choices (Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence, Rome, Amalfi Coast) From here it is usualy best to get a flight to Greece, from Greece you can go back to Italy or if you are finished there, you can head over to Spain (again a lot to choose: Barcelona, Madrid, Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba etc.) and from there back to London. (or a flight to Paris and back to London, if you skipped Paris at the beginning.)
6 weeks is kind of short, and you will have to make some choices about what to see, and what not.
