I was wondering if there are downfalls to going in late winter-early spring. The countries i would like to visit would be Scotland, England, Netherlands, France and Spain, and possibly Germany and Belgium.

The main drawback is the weather. I am not sure I'd really want to do Scotland in the winter. I think I'd substitute Italy. The Netherlands can get bitingly cold too.

Hi! Will is right, the farther south you go, the better chances of getting nice weather. This is though, it depends on what you like. I'm not a sunshine beach girl and I don't like to freeze either.
I love early spring in western Europe. Things start to bloom, you have the first short-wearers, sandal-fanatics, etc. It's a whole different experience, just be aware of the rain and keep a raincoat or an umbrella, that's the downside!
Have fun
