Okay, so I wasn't sure where to post this since the seemingly appropriate place is read only.
Anyhoo, to all those who have been 'complaining' about the heat wave in Europe and at home in Canada...BRING SOME TO IRELAND! My god it's miserable here! lol. I'm sick as a dog from all the rain and cold and thankfully this is my last day here in the Emerald Isle. Don't get me wrong, it's absolutley beautiful here and I'm already planning my next trip back.
I arrived in Dublin last week and managed to get over the jet lag quite easily. Dublin is wonderful! I spent my first day wandering around checking out the churches and parks and Dublin Castle (which was rather boring, I must say!) and later on met up with some friends for a couple of pints.
My last full day in Dublin was the longest ever and is surly the cause of my cold that is finally starting to go away. At 6:30 am I joined my friends in line to check out a local band that was playing at Croke Park that night
Although the rain was constant the show went on and at 9 pm U2 took the stage and it was a night I'll never forget! We managed to secure a spot front row along the railing and the show was amazing. I could go on and on but I'll just say what a dream come true for this die hard! (Why oh why did I turn down tickets for Paris? )
Next was Galway. I spent a day out on Inis Mor and found this place positively gorgeous. There seemed to be some boat race going on that day and the bus ride back to town was certainly an intersting one. The Irish sure do love to sing and dance! At one point I though that even the bus driver was drunk!
I had hoped to head to the Cliffs of Mohr and The Burren but decided some hot soup and day in bed to get rid of this cold was best. But hey, always plan for next time, right?
So here I am now, my last day in Killarney. I've spent the last two days hiking and biked all day yesterday around the Lakes of Killarney towards the gap of Dunloe and throughout Killarney National Park. The scenery was breathtaking and the mountains were capped with a white, wispy mist.
Everyone here has been so friendly and have shown this solo traveller a good time.
Tonight I'm off to Belgium to begin my tour of maninland Europe.
I hope everyone is doing well and I will check in again soon.
Cheers,
Char
P.S--I can't believe I forgot to add this: I got The Edge's guitar pick! ;D
