Hey everyone.
Just wondering what you think is the best way is to travel from Berlin-Paris and Paris-Barcelona?
We were thinking train, because all things considered, there wont be that much saving on time, but the cost would be much less, especially considering the train stations are in the cities, but the airports are outside the cities.
Any feedback is welcome.
Cheers, monty.

I think that flying is and faster and cheaper, providing you book ahead.
For Paris - Barcelona, check Vueling, and avoid Ryanair (as you would be flying Beauvais - Girona, which are two airports very far away from the city.)
For Berlin to Paris (again make sure to fly to either Orly or de Gaulle airport), you can check Easyjet and Air Berlin.

monty1104,
Based on the criteria I use for planning transportation, the Berlin - Paris trip would be about equal between rail and air. The shortest rail trip on that route is about 8H:18M (one change in Mannheim) with "Savings Fares" as low as €39. The air trip would be slightly shorter, but probably not by much after travel to and from airports, check-in, security and waiting for flights is considered. The trip by air would probably be more tiring for me (I find that I can sleep more easily on train and the seats are much more comfortable).
One other disadvantage of air travel is that if you're carrying a lot of "heavy" kit, you'll get 'nicked' with overweight baggage charges. You'll only be allowed ONE carry-on so will probably have to check at least part of your luggage (which will probably involve an extra fee). If you're travelling by train, there won't be any "luggage concerns".
On the Paris - Barcelona trip, I definitely agree with herrbert that budget air would be the best option. I'd probably use EasyJet from Paris / CDG to Barcelona / BCN. The lowest fares they have listed at the moment (using an arbitrary date of 16 Sept.) are €36.49, which includes all government taxes and airport fees. Keep in mind that budget airlines usually operate on a "sliding scale", so the prices will increase as the flight fills up.
If you decide to travel with the budget airlines, BE SURE to read their terms and conditions carefully, so you'll know exactly what other charges there might be.
Happy travels!
