Vaux-le-Vicomte and Fountainblue

my friends and i were planning on visiting the chateaus outside paris. i know there are tours that allows you to see them in a day but i didn't want to add more expense. anyone know a good option via public transportation to get from one site to the other? thanks for the help!

As for any cheap, fast way to get between the two, I sort of doubt it.


The fact is that a tour with an experienced driver and guide is probably the most time-efficient method possible. I know I always see more than when I try to do those sort of trips myself. I don't know if this price or option will be valid when you go, but 34 Euros is really not bad:

The fact that these attractions are located some distance from the train stations will add to the time it takes as well, if you try to do trains plus local transport.

However, there is a Chateaubus shuttle, that is reasonably cheap, discussed at the bottom of this page:

Which Chateau's did you have in mind? I have to agree with WT that taking a tour with a Guide / Driver is probably the best way to get the most out of the visit.

If you were planning in visiting Versailles, it's an easy trip on the RER from Paris. As I recall, there's a station at Chenonceau, but I'd have to verify that. That's a very impressive sight!
