Hello everyone! I just have a quick question... I was looking at hiking shoes for my trip just cause I don’t want to be bandaging up the blisters every night before bed. But the thing is I honestly don’t like any, I was wondering if my usual sk-8 sneakers would do the trick. I’m sure they would hold out walking cause I wear them all day at my job and they are really comfortable. I’m just wondering if it would be more to my advantage to buy hiking shoes, because they are made especially for walking long distances??? Thanks!

A good pair of walking shoes could be the thing for you. Were you going to bring another pair of shoes besides your sneakers? Don't know if you are much for nightlife, but some clubs don't allow sneakers.

For my 2 month trip, I bought a good pair of Asics walking shoes. They were great, I was mostly worried about footodor but asics are made with airtraps and they were great! I don't think you need hiking boots, unless you really feel like it. Good quality running shoes do a great job!

Hello Laura Lee,
I agree, you don't necessarily need to have hiking shoes - I don't know what your plans are but unless you are thinking of doing some serious "hiking" I would suggest you take what you are most comfortable walking in. You certainly don't want to be breaking in the hiking shoes over there!!!
I had a pair of hiking shoes but seriously regretted not taking my actually running shoes as I am quite athletic and was unable to go for runs. I made out fine but really would have been much happier with my runners! Then I had a pair of very comfortable sandals. Nothing I would wear out at home but they made due for both walking all day and looked quite fine with a skirt for going out.
cheers! kel

Thanks so much for the help full info guys! And Cil I totally didn't even think about the bar factor I do like going to the clubs and that would have majorly sucked if I didn't bring other shoes with me. I was thinking that sandals would also be a good idea, I will have to find a pair that go with everything just like NFLqueen had said. ;D

I was at the clubs alot and there were many times I wish I had some of my much 'dressier' shoes from home but there is no way it would have been worth taking more than 2 pair of shoes with me. Way too much space - the joys of travelling...... gotta make due Kelly NFLqueen

Kelly, I totally know whacha mean about more then two pairs of shoes. I wear these big clunky combat boots all the time and I totally wish I would be able to take them with but it's just not logical I gotta go with what is comfortable. And takes up less space, those boots of mine would take up my whole pack since I have size 12 feet. My shoes are going to take up so much space as is since my feet are so big. ;D sucks to be tall with big feet ha ha...

i brought 3 pairs of shoes with me to europe... sneakers, flip flops and dressy sandals. i wore my flip flops most of the time, and they came is super handy in some nasty showers! i wore my sneakers mainly when i was carrying my pack around. my dress shoes i wore once and got super blisters and ended up leaving them in a hotel in spain.

Note to self the nice shoes just really aren't worth bringing unless they are super comfy. I was totally planning on bringing flip flops with me.
